We repair the cast-iron and under-slab sewer lines beneath your home.

Many older Florida homes still drain through cast iron under the slab, and that pipe scales, cracks and backs up as it ages. We show you on camera what is failing, then line your pipe from inside where it is suitable, so less of your floor has to be broken out. When a section cannot be lined, we replace it.

Estimates are free. Camera inspections may carry a charge.

Corrosion, cracking and roots inside a cast iron pipe before lining
Riva Del Lago · Fort Myers · May 2015 reference letter

At Riva Del Lago in Fort Myers, the customer reported that we repaired a leak through a 12-inch concrete slab in a twelfth-floor condominium with a fiberglass liner in two hours, without breaking out the slab.

Customer-reported result from a May 2015 reference letter. Timing on your job depends on your pipe’s condition and access.

We find out why your drains keep backing up.

Scale and corrosion are closing your cast-iron line.

Cast-iron drains corrode from within. Scale builds up inside your pipe, toilets and tubs drain slowly, and the line backs up into the lowest drain in the house, often a shower or floor drain. Over time the wall thins and cracks along its length.

Roots have entered your sewer lateral.

The line from your house to the street runs under your yard, and roots find every open joint in it. They catch paper and debris until the line stops. We cut the roots out, inspect the line and, where your pipe is suitable, line it so its joints sit inside a continuous liner.

Your pipe has cracked or separated under the slab.

A broken line under your slab leaks into the soil beneath your floor. Signs include sewer odors, damp flooring and repeated backups that cleaning does not fix. Our camera locates the break, so the repair goes to the right spot.

We show you the inside of your pipe before you approve a repair.

We run a camera through your line from a cleanout or a fixture and record what we see. You receive the footage, a written findings summary and a proposed repair scope.

If you are buying an older home, a camera inspection of the sewer before closing shows you what you are taking on, while you can still negotiate.

We line your pipe from inside where it is suitable.

01

We reach your line through a cleanout or a small opening.

Where your layout allows, we line through existing cleanouts. When there is no usable access, we open a small, defined area instead of breaking out the floor along the whole run.

02

We clean and descale your pipe.

Cleaning removes scale and roots, so the liner fits a sound wall. We choose cutters, rodding or hydro-jetting for the condition of your pipe.

03

We install and cure a cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) liner.

The liner is pulled or inverted into your pipe and cured there, forming a new jointless pipe inside the old one. We reopen the branch connections from your fixtures.

04

We repair a single break with a spot repair.

When one crack or joint has failed in an otherwise sound line, we repair that length only.

05

We show you the finished line on camera.

You see the restored pipe on video before we close out.

When your pipe cannot be lined, we replace that section.

Collapsed pipe, a line that has lost its slope and fittings a liner cannot pass through are replaced. We tell you in the scope which sections need replacement and what has to be opened to reach them.

If you own a condominium unit, we work with you and your association.

The drain inside your walls may belong to you, to the association or to both, depending on your condominium documents. Ask your manager before work starts. We can share our findings with both of you, and our condominium page explains building-wide stack repairs.

We price your home's repair from the length, condition and access of your line.

  • The length and diameter of the line to be lined or replaced.
  • How much scale and root cleaning your pipe needs first.
  • Whether a usable cleanout exists or a small access opening is needed.
  • The number of branch connections from fixtures to reopen.
  • Sections that must be replaced, and the floor or yard over them.

Questions homeowners ask us.

The age of your home is the first clue. A cast-iron cleanout or a section of dark, heavy pipe visible in your garage or laundry area is another. A camera inspection tells you for certain.

Not when we can line through an existing cleanout. Some homes need one small opening for access. Replacement of a collapsed section does require opening the floor or yard over that section.

It depends on the length and condition of your line and the access we have. In a May 2015 reference letter, the Riva Del Lago customer reported a two-hour slab leak repair. Your estimate includes the schedule for your job.

A camera inspection may carry a charge, because it is field work with equipment and a written deliverable, separate from the free estimate. We tell you the price before we schedule it.
